La cathédrale de St. Basile est très belle et peu ordinaire. N'ayant pas trop lu mes guides je m'y suis plutôt attendu à un seul atrium dans la formation classique d'une église mais au fait il y a un petit chapelle sous chacun de ses dômes.
Le centre commercial de Gym (prononcé Goom) est très connu et assez joli, face au Kremlin. On dit qu'il a été sauvé de destruction par les femmes des hommes politiques car c'était le seul endroit pendant la guerre froide où l'on pouvait trouver n'import quel petit bout de luxure. Il semble être l'endroit choisi pour des photos marriage.... ce qui me paraît bizarre mais si tout le monde le font....
… is expensive. 24€ for coffee + cake (x2) !! Ouch. Very nice cake mind, a bit like the old rum baba's that you got in cake shops in the uk (with the dense chocolateyness and the chocolate sprinkles) although without the sprinkles. It did come with hugely unseasonal strawberries, raspberries and blueberries all of which may have contributed to its prohibitive expense. Coffee and cake necessary expense to sit indoors in the warm though as it's reasonably chilly (mainly due to the wind).
St.Basil's cathedral is beautiful and unusual – I had somehow expected a single atrium but in fact there is a sort of chapel beneath each brightly coloured dome.
The famous Gym (pron. Goom) shopping centre is quite a pretty building opposite the Kremlin. We're told it was saved from destruction by political wives since it was the only place to get hold of luxury items during the cold war. It appears a favourite for wedding photo's. Which seems strange but if that's what everyone else is doing....
